Charlotte Schaufelbuhl

Charlotte Schaufelbuhl

Charlotte Schaufelbuhl began her creative career in Switzerland studying folk art. She moved to Canada in 1969 and started exploring clay at the Surrey Arts Centre in 1976, and later at the Vancouver Community Centre. Charlotte and her husband moved to the Comox Valley in 1983. It was here that her interest and emphasis on pottery developed.
Charlotte has studied under John Paulson, Alan Burgess Gorden Hutchens, Greg Daly and Robin Hopper. Her work is strongly influenced by her folk art studies and carries a European style. She is constantly testing new ground and prefers the erratic and surprising results that reduction gas firings offer. She aims to create unique an eclectic pieces and sets. Charlotte continues to study with guest artists through Comox Valley Potters and works out of her own home-built kiln and studio in Black Creek.
