Jack and Leanne operate River Run Pottery on the banks of the Oyster River. Jack is the artist and Leanne is the business person, doing all of the organizing that is essential. Jack’s interest in the art world has been a lifelong affair, beginning with a passion for painting that persisted throughout his school days and 12 years in the business world. His interest led to art school, then a degree in art education at UBC, majoring in painting and ceramics. Jack was actively involved in commercial galleries as well as university galleries at UBC and the University of Alberta. 1972 brought a teaching appointment at the Banff Centre and an expanded interest in clay. This led to further studies and a Master’s degree in three-dimensional art. Retirement from 30 years of teaching in the school system allows Jack to work full time with Leanne in their Oyster River Studio.
